Italy's July Inflation Confirmed At 50-year Low

Wednesday, Italy's statistical office, Istat confirmed that inflation fell to a fifty year low of 0% in July from 0.5% in June.

The consumer prices index was flat on a monthly basis in July, while it grew 0.1% in June. Thus, the statistical office confirmed its preliminary estimate released on July 31.

The harmonized index of consumer prices or HICP fell 1.2% month-on-month in July, the first fall in six months, after an increase of 0.2% in June.

Compared to the previous year, the HICP dropped 0.1% in July versus an increase of 0.6% in June.
