Thursday, International Monetary Fund Managing Director Dominique Strauss-Kahn reportedly said the IMF may raise its forecast for the global economy.
Speaking to France's Europe1 radio, Kahn said IMF's forecast for 2009 would be stronger than previously anticipated.
In July 2009, IMF had forecast a 1.4% contraction for global economy in 2009 and then to expand by 2.5% in 2010. The Washington-based lender is due to announce its updated forecasts on October 1.
He also noted that the Eurozone economy is expected to outperform expectations in 2009 and a rebound is likely in 2010, though the level of growth would be less compared to the period before the financial crisis.
