Thursday, a report by the Netherlands' Central Bureau of Statistics said retail sales dropped 5.1% in the second quarter from a year earlier, after a revised 4.4% fall in the first quarter.
In volume terms, retail sales fell 4.8% year-on-year in the second quarter compared to a 4.9% fall in the preceding quarter.
Turnover in non food stores fell 7.6%, faster than a 6.4% fall in the first quarter. Turnover at petrol shops fell 15.1%, after a 11.5% fall in the preceding quarter. However, the turnover of food and beverage stores rose 2.4%, after a 0.7% growth in the first quarter.
Meanwhile, in June, retail sales slipped 4.1% year-on-year, slower than a 8.6% drop in May.
