India Wholesale Price Index Drops At Slower Pace

India's wholesale price index or WPI dropped 0.95% for the week ended August 15, compared to the 1.53% fall for the week ended August 8. Economists were looking for a decline of 1.41%. A year ago, the rate of inflation was 12.82% in the corresponding week.

The government said that the inflation for the week ended June 20 was revised to 0.80% from 1.30% reported initially.
