The National Statistical Service of Greece announced Monday that the harmonized index of consumer prices in Greece rose 1% year-on-year in August, faster than the 0.7% rise in the previous month. This is the biggest increase in HICP since April, when it rose 1.1%.
On a monthly basis, HICP dropped 0.8% in August compared to the 0.7% decrease in July.
Moreover, the consumer price index increased at a year-on-year rate of 0.8% in August, after the 0.6% growth in July. Inflation edged higher for the second month in a row. The CPI, meanwhile, fell 0.7% month-on-month in August, the same as in July.
