India's infrastructure production growth slowed significantly in September, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry said on Wednesday.
The infrastructure sector output increased 4% year-on-year in September, slower than the 7.8% growth in the previous month. A year ago, production was up 4%. Infrastructure output is based on the Index of Six core industries that hold a combined weight of 26.7% in the Index of Industrial Production.
Crude oil production dropped 0.5% year-on-year in September, while petroleum refinery products output climbed 3.4%. At the same time, the production of coal and cement grew 6.5% each, while electricity output rose 7.5%.
For the April to September period, infrastructure sector output rose 5%, compared to the 3.4% increase in the same period of the previous year.
