Tuesday, the European Central Bank said Eurozone M3 money supply growth slowed to 1.8% year-on-year in September from 2.6% in August. Economists had expected the money supply to rise 2.2%. The three-month average of the annual growth rates of M3 over July to September decreased to 2.5% from 3.1% in the three months ended August.
Regarding the main components of M3, the annual rate of growth of M1 decreased to 12.8% in September. The short-term deposits other than overnight deposits decreased 5.3% annually in September and marketable instruments dropped 8.8%.
