Japan is scheduled to release September numbers for retail sales on Wednesday, headlining a light day for Asian economic activity. Also on tap is the monthly small business confidence survey for October.
Analysts are expecting retail sales to decline 1.6 percent on year following the 1.8 percent annual contraction in August. On month, retail sales are called higher by a seasonally adjusted 0.2 percent after the 1.0 percent increase in the August. Large retailers are forecast to show a 5.9 percent annual decline following the 6.8 percent contraction a month earlier. Small business confidence posted an index score of 43.5 in September.
The Malaysian central bank will hold its monetary policy meeting and announce its decision on interest rates. The bank is widely expected to keep rates on hold at the current 2 percent.
