Monday, the Statistics Sweden in a report said the trade surplus stood at SEK 5.5 billion in September, up slightly from SEK 5.4 billion surplus in August. A year earlier, the surplus was SEK 9.9 billion.
Total export value dropped 17% from a year earlier to SEK 88.3 billion, while total imports fell 14% to SEK 82.8 billion.
The country recorded a trade surplus of SEK 9.4 billion with countries outside the EU, but registered a trade deficit of SEK 3.9 billion with the EU countries.
Seasonally adjusted, the trade deficit stood at SEK 7.7 billion in September, lower than a SEK 8.2 billion surplus in the previous month.
In the first nine months of the year, the trade surplus was SEK 80.4 billion compared to a surplus of SEK 83.2 billion in the same period last year. Exports fell 19%, while imports were down 20% on a yearly basis.
