Hungary's economic sentiment index, after adjusting for seasonal effects, improved further for the sixth consecutive month in October, the latest survey from GKI Economic Research Co. said Monday.
The economic sentiment index improved to minus 26.8 in October from minus 30.7 in September, but was worse off than the minus 25 seen over the same month last year. Improvement was driven by a rise in both consumer and business confidence.
The consumer confidence index rose to minus 50.8 from minus 56.9, the sixth month of increase, while the business confidence climbed to minus 18.4 from minus 21.5, marking the seventh month of improvement.
"After a six-months fall the value of GKI's economic sentiment index adjusted for seasonal effects has been improving for half a year. But this increase is slower than the decrease was before, so far we can only speak about weakening pessimism and not about a starting optimism", the GKI said.
