German Aug. Producer Prices Decline Less Than Expected

Friday, Germany's Federal Statistical Office announced that the producer price index or PPI dropped 6.9% year-on-year in August, compared to the 7.8% fall in the previous month. Economists were looking for a decline of 7.2%. A year ago, the PPI was up 7.7%.

On a monthly basis, the PPI increased 0.5% in August, after falling 1.5% in July. Economists expected a decline of 0.2%
