The average asking price for a home in the United Kingdom was up 0.2 percent in September compared to the previous month, according to property Web site Hometrack, rising for the second consecutive month. House prices had risen 0.1 percent on month in August.
On an annual basis, house prices were down 5.6 percent after shedding 6.7 percent on year in the previous month.
By region, house prices in London were up 0.4 percent on month and the Southeast saw a 0.3 percent gain - although house prices in Wales, Yorkshire, the East Midlands and East Anglia remained unchanged.
The total number of home sales was up 2.5 percent.
