Tuesday, Statistics Iceland announced that the producer price index rose on a monthly basis for the fifth straight month, up 3.3% in August after the 3.5% increase in the previous month. A year earlier, producer prices were up 1.9%.
Prices were up across the board, with power intensive industry products recording the largest increase, up 5.2% on-month. Prices of exported products were up 3.9%.
Year-on-year, producer prices increased 13.8% in August, faster than the 12.2% rise in the preceding month. Pipeline inflation accelerated for the second month in a row.
