Monday, the Turkish Statistical Institute announced that the consumer confidence index decreased to 82.37 in July from 85.27 in June. Economists were looking for a reading of 85.4.
An index reading above 100 suggests an optimistic outlook, a level equal to 100 indicates neither optimistic or pessimistic outlook and a figure below 100 reflects pessimistic outlook.
The purchasing power for next six months declined to 78.56 in July from 80.39 in June, while the general economic situation for next three months decreased to 77.13 from 79.44 in June.
