Macau August Trade Deficit Narrows Modestly

Monday, the Statistics and Census Service said in a report that Macau's trade deficit contracted to MOP 2.50 billion in August compared to MOP 2.57 billion in the previous month.

Exports value plunged 55.7% year-on-year to MOP 582 million, slower than the 60.8% decline in the preceding month. The value of domestic exports and re-exports declined 69.5% and 32.1%, respectively.

At the same time, imports value was down 13.9% to MOP 3.09 billion, slower than the 23.1% decline in the previous month.

For the first eight months of the year, the trade deficit widened by 1.4% from the corresponding period of the previous year.
