Ireland consumer sentiment indicator improved in September, the Economic and Social Research Institute said on Thursday.
The KBC Ireland/ESRI Consumer Sentiment Index increased to 49.6 from 48.7 in August.
David Duffy, ESRI, said, "The results show a moderate improvement in consumer sentiment, driven by consumer expectations."
In September, the forward-looking sub-index rose to 34.4 from 28.6 in August, while the index of current economic conditions dropped to 72.3 from 78.6 in August.
Austin Hughes, KBC Ireland, said, "There is little doubt that Irish consumer sentiment was boosted by further signs of an improvement in the global economy.
