Kenya Consumer Price Inflation Rises In December

Thursday, the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics announced that the consumer price index or CPI rose 5.3% year-on-year in December, faster than the 5% growth in the previous month.

Food and non-alcoholic drinks prices increased 5.7% on an annual basis in December, while clothing and footwear prices rose 5.4%. Transport and communication charges were up 5%.

On a monthly basis, the CPI rose 0.3% in December.
