Japan Department Store Sales Fall Further In December

Nationwide department store sales in Japan dropped 5% year-on-year to JPY 7.42 trillion in December, the Japan Department Stores Association reported on Friday. Department store sales have now fallen for 22 consecutive months.

Sales in the Tokyo region dropped 5.8% in December to JPY 1.79 trillion, also extending the current period of decline to 22 months.
