Sweden Jan. Jobless Rate Rises

Thursday, the Statistics Sweden announced that the jobless rate stood at 9.4% in January, up from 8.6% recorded in the previous month. Economists expected the jobless rate to be 9.3%.

The number of unemployed persons totaled 458, 000 in January, an increase of 108, 000 compared to the previous year.

On a seasonally adjusted basis, the jobless rate was 9.1% in January and the number of unemployed amounted to 449,000.
