Monster U.S. Employment Index Edges Down In January

The Monster Employment Index for the U.S., which is a monthly gauge of U.S. online job demand, was at 114 in January compared to 115 in the previous month, Monster Worldwide Inc. reported on Thursday.

Online job availability rose in eight of the index's 20 industry sectors and in seven of the 23 occupational categories monitored, Monster Inc. said.

Demand for jobs recorded marked increases in the public administration, arts, entertainment & recreation and educational services industries.

On the other hand, construction and wholesale trade continued to slide, while recruitment activity also dipped in the accommodation & food services, management of companies & enterprises, and administrative & support industries.
