Friday, Germany's Federal Statistical Office announced that the producer price index or PPI dropped 3.4% year-on-year in January, slower than the 5.2% fall in the previous month. Economists were looking for a decline of 4%. A year ago, the PPI was up 2%.
On a monthly basis, the PPI increased 0.8% in January, compared to the 0.1% fall in the preceding month. Economists expected an increase of 0.3%.
