Shop prices in the United Kingdom were up 2.2 percent on year in December, the British Retail Consortium said on Wednesday, following a 0.2 percent annual increase in November.
Food prices jumped 3.7 percent on year after adding an annual 2.8 percent. Non-food prices were up an annual 1.4 percent in December after falling 1.2 percent on year in November.
On a monthly basis, total shop prices were flat after a 0.3 percent increase in November. Food prices were up 0.2 percent, while non-food prices were unchanged.
