An index measuring consumer confidence in the United Kingdom came in at 69 in December, Nationwide said on Wednesday, falling to its lowest score in more than a year.
That's sharply lower than the 73 that analysts had been expecting following the revised reading of 74 in November, marking the largest index decline since November 2008.
The survey also showed that only 34 percent of respondents expect the economy to improve in the next six months, down from 41 percent in November.
