Thailand's exports increased 26.1% year-on-year to US$14.62 billion in November, faster than the 17% growth in the previous month, a report from the Commerce Ministry showed on Tuesday. Economists expected an increase of 19.2%.
Meanwhile, imports grew 28.2% on an annual basis to US$14.42 billion in November, after falling 2.2% in October. Economists were looking for an increase of 13.8%.
The trade balance showed a surplus of US$204 million in November, narrowing from US$1.06 billion surplus in the previous month. Economists expected a trade surplus of US$968 million.
For the entire year 2009, exports value dropped 14.2% to US$152.5 billion, while imports value fell 25.3% to US$133.79 billion. During the period, the trade surplus amounted to US$18.7 billion.
