Spanish Dec. HICP Rises More Than Expected

Spain's harmonized index of consumer prices climbed at a pace of 0.9% in December from the last year, according to the flash estimate issued by the National Statistics Institute on Tuesday. Consensus forecast was for an increase of 0.8%. Prices climbed more than the prior month's 0.4% increase, which was the first rise since February 2009.

The statistical office is slated to issue final numbers on January 14.
