Indonesia's consumer price inflation rose to 2.78% in December from 2.41% in November, official data showed Monday. Economists had forecast a rate of 2.92%.
On a monthly basis, the consumer price index climbed 0.33% in December after falling 0.03% in November.
The Bank Indonesia held its key interest rate at a record low of 6.50% for a fourth month in December. The central bank expects the current interest rate will help it to achieve its 2010 inflation target of 5% plus or minus 1%. The bank expects potential inflation in 2009 to come below its inflation target of 4.5% plus or minus 1%.
