ADP Private Employment Down 84,000

Payroll processor ADP released data on private employment for December. The report showed a decline of 84,000 for the month.

This includes a drop of 96,000 in the goods-producing sector, offset somewhat by a 12,000 increase in the service-producing sector.

The ADP report is considered a key prelude to the government's monthly employment statistics that will be released on Friday.
