Thailand's exports increased 30.8% year-on-year to US$13.7 billion in January, faster than the 26.1% growth in the previous month, the Commerce Ministry said on Friday. Economists expected an increase of 32.6%.
At the same time, imports climbed 44.8% to US$13.21 billion, compared to the 28.2% increase in the previous month. Economists were looking for an increase of 52.2%.
The trade surplus amounted to US$516 million in January, up from US$204 million surplus in December. Economists expected a trade surplus of US$198 million.
