Job vacancies in London financial services sector increased 60% year-on-year in January, according to latest Morgan McKinley survey.
The number of new job vacancies rose to 4,646 from 2,898 in the previous year. Compared to December, it represented an increase of 105%.
Following the typical seasonal dip in hiring over the Christmas holiday period, recruitment levels across the financial services sector in January 2010 returned to the general pattern of growth experienced over the course of 2009, the recruitment consultancy said on Thursday.
"With improved confidence in the market, more job opportunities starting to filter through and some bonus payouts having been announced; those in employment are becoming more inclined to kick off their job search," said Andrew Evans, Managing Director of Morgan McKinley's financial services division.
Average city salaries stood at GBP 50,464 in January, down 1% from December's GBP 50,858. Compared to the previous year's salary of GBP 49,983, it was an increase of 1%.
