India's exports increased 9.3% year-on-year to US$14.61 billion in December from US$13.37 billion a year ago, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry said on Monday.
At the same time, imports climbed 27% to US$24.75 billion, compared to the US$19.46 billion recorded a year earlier.
The trade deficit stood at US$10.15 billion in December, widening from US$6.09 billion deficit in the previous year.
For the April to December period, exports and imports decreased by 20.3% and 23.6% respectively compared to the same period of the previous year. During the period, the trade deficit amounted to US$76.24 billion, narrowing from US$106.24 billion last year.
