S. Korean Annual Inflation Accelerates In January

South Korean consumer price annual inflation rose to 3.1% in January from 2.8% in December, the Statistics Korea said in a report on Monday. However, annual inflation stood slightly below the consensus forecast of 3.2%.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices were up 0.4%, the same rate of increase as in December. Excluding food and energy, the index edged up 0.1% from the previous month.
