Wednesday, the Statistics Portugal announced that the consumer price index or CPI rose 0.1% year-on-year in January, compared to the 0.1% fall in the previous month. A year earlier, the CPI was up 0.2%.
On a monthly basis, the CPI dropped 0.5% in January, in contrast to a 0.1% growth in the preceding month.
The annual core inflation rate, which excludes energy components and fresh unprocessed food products, dropped 0.6% in January, compared to the 0.2% fall in the previous month.
Meanwhile, the harmonized index of consumer prices rose 0.1% on an annual basis in January, after falling 0.1% in December.
