Spanish Aug. Current Account Deficit Narrows

Spain's current account deficit decreased sharply to EUR 3.18 billion in August from EUR 7.11 billion in the same period of last month, the Bank of Spain reported Friday.

The trade balance showed a shortfall of EUR 4.21 billion in August, smaller than the EUR 7.21 billion last year. The deficit in income account halved to EUR 1.5 billion from EUR 3.1 billion. Meanwhile, the deficit in current transfers widened to EUR 982.9 million from EUR 781.9 million.
