S. Korean Jobless Rate Remains Unchanged In August

Wednesday, South Korea's National Statistical Office said the jobless rate stood at 3.7% in August, the same as in July. The July and August rates were the lowest since January 2009 when the unemployment rate was 3.6%.

The jobless rate on a seasonally adjusted basis also remained unchanged at 3.8% in August. The number of unemployed persons decreased to 931,000 from 938,000 in July. Meanwhile, the labor force participation rate was 61.2%, up from July's 61%.
