Tuesday, the latest Labor Force Survey from the National Statistics Office showed that the Philippines' unemployment rate stood at 7.6% in July, up from 7.4% in the previous year. However, the underemployment rate declined to 19.8% from 21% in the previous year.
In July, there were 35.5 million employed persons. The employment rate fell slightly to 92.4% from 92.6% in July 2008.
The survey found that there were 38.4 million persons in the labor force in July. The labor force participation rate rose to 64.6% in July from 64.3% in the previous year.
