Malta's harmonized index of consumer prices rose at an annual rate of 1% in August, faster than 0.8% in July, the National Statistical Office said Wednesday. A year ago, inflation was 5.4%.
On a monthly basis, the index was up 0.6% in August, in contrast to a 0.1% drop in July.
The agency said the monthly rise in the HICP was driven by a 2.8% increase in prices in the restaurants and hotels group along with a 1.1% rise in food and beverages prices.
