Consumer confidence in the United Kingdom remained unchanged in November, the Nationwide Building Society reported on Wednesday.
The consumer confidence index stood at 73 in November, unchanged from October's upwardly revised reading. The expectations index rose to 108 from 107, while the present situation index dropped to 20 from 22. The spending intentions index rose to 106 from 104.
"Consumer confidence is holding steady at the end of a volatile year for the index," said Martin Gahbauer, Chief Economist at Nationwide. "The downbeat assessment of the present situation is consistent with recent news that the UK has been slower to come out of recession than other countries."
