Taiwan's Jobless Rate Increases In August

Taiwan's seasonally adjusted jobless rate moved to 6.07% in August from 6.01% in the preceding month, the Directorate General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics said Tuesday. Economists expected the rate to be 6.04%. The number of unemployed increased to 662,000 from 656,000.

At the same time, the number of employed remained unchanged at 10.24 million as the also the total labor force, which stayed at 10.9 million. However, the participation rate decreased to 57.75% from 57.8%.
