Labor costs in Germany were flat on a seasonally adjusted sequential basis in the third quarter compared to the upwardly revised 0.6% increase in the previous quarter, the Federal Statistical Office reported on Wednesday. Labor cost growth has been on a slowing trend since surging 2.3% in the final quarter of 2008.
Compared with the same quarter of the previous year, however, labor costs increased a calendar adjusted 4.8%, slower than the upwardly revised 5.7% increase in the preceding quarter. This marks the third highest annual labor cost growth rate in the history of the index.
