China Vehicle Sales Surge In August

Automobile sales in China continues to grow strongly in August, a report by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers or CAAM said Tuesday.

Passenger car sales grew a robust 90% year-on-year in August to 858,300 units. Commercial vehicle sales rose nearly 60% to 280,200 units. Overall vehicle sales, including trucks and buses, climbed 82% to 1.14 million units.

In the first eight months of the year, overall vehicle sales grew 29% to 8.33 million units. Passenger cars were up 37% to 6.23 million.
