Taiwan's industrial output dropped 9.62% year-on-year in August, the Ministry of Economic Affairs said Wednesday. This comes after a 7.93% fall in the preceding month and above economists' expectation for a 6% drop. Industrial output has been continuously falling since September last year.
Mining output fell 22.27%, while manufacturing was down 9.38%. Production of utilities fell 2.83%.
Month-on-month, industrial output fell 0.4%, reversing six months of increases. In July, industrial output was up 0.87%.
