Monday, a report by Statistics Norway said the retail sales volume grew a seasonally adjusted 2.4% in October from September. Economists expected a 0.8% increase. A month earlier, retail sales were down 1.2%. Excluding motor vehicles and petrol, retail sales rose 2.1% in October, after a 1.1% fall in the previous month.
Year-on-year, the retail sales volume climbed 4%, faster than a 0.9% growth in September and a 1.9% rise anticipated by economists. Excluding motor vehicles and petrol, retail sales increased 5.2%.
Meanwhile, the retail sales value was up 5.8% on a yearly basis in October, and excluding motorcycles and petrol, was up 7%.
