Japanese Small Business Confidence Strengthens In August

Wednesday, a report from Japan's Shoko Chukin Bank showed that confidence amongst small and medium sized enterprises rose 0.7 points to 41.8 in August. A reading below 50 suggests that pessimists outnumber optimists.

Manufacturers' confidence dropped 0.7 points to 40.4, while confidence amongst non-manufacturing firms climbed 1.8 points to 42.8 in August.
