Tuesday, a report released by the Japan Department Stores Association showed that nationwide department store sales declined for the seventeenth straight month in July.

Sales adjusted for the number of stores fell 11.7% year-on-year in July. Meanwhile, sales at Tokyo's 28 major outlets operated by 13 companies slipped 13.4% annually in July.
