Japan's industrial production rose by a seasonally adjusted 0.5% in October from the prior month, a final report from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry showed Monday. Meanwhile, production was down 15.1% from the previous year. The ministry confirmed the preliminary estimate released on November 30.
While, shipments rose 1.3%, inventory dropped 1.5%, in line with the initial estimate. Annually, shipments and inventory plunged 13% and 14.4%, respectively in October.
Further, the report showed that the operating ratio rose by a seasonally adjusted 0.2% month-on-month in October, smaller than the 1.6% growth reported in the previous month. On an unadjusted basis, the operating ratio edged up 0.1% on a monthly basis, and fell 16.5% annually.
