Monday, the Statistical Service of the Republic of Cyprus said the jobless rate stood at 5.2% in the second quarter, up from 4.6% in the preceding quarter. A year ago, the rate was 3.1%.
The jobless rate for males stood at 4.9%, while for females it was 5.5%. In total, there were 20,900 unemployed persons in the second quarter.
Meanwhile, the number of employed persons totaled 382,900 and the employment rate for the persons aged 15 to 64 was 70.2%.
