French Manufacturing Industry Suffers Less Pronounced Fall In Demand In Q2 - INSEE

Global and export demands for French manufactured products continued to fall in the second quarter, but the decline was less pronounced than during the two previous quarters, results of the latest quarterly business survey revealed Tuesday.

The indicator measuring total demand in the second quarter rose to minus 43 from minus 58 in the first quarter. A negative reading indicates a fall in demand.

According to the business leaders questioned, demand would continue to fall in the third quarter, but the pace would again ease. The corresponding indicator improved to minus 20 from minus 37.

Business leaders said the fall of industrial manpower increased in the second quarter anew. Looking at business leader's expectations, the decline in employment is expected to be less marked over the next three months.
