Czech Jobless Rate Rises In July

The Czech jobless rate rose to 8.4% in July, the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs reported Monday. The unemployment rate stood at 8% in June. The jobless rate for July came in line with economists' expectations. The unemployment rate for women came in at 9.9% and that for men was 7.2%.

In July, job offices registered altogether 485,319 job seekers, up 21,764 from June. Meanwhile, the number of newly registered job seekers increased 9,484 to 70,222. Job offices terminated registration of 48,458 job seekers in July.

The report also showed that job offices paid off unemployment benefits to 200,179 job seekers in July, that was 41.2% of all job seekers under registration.
