Thursday, the Statistics Sweden announced that the consumer price index or CPI rose 0.6% year-on-year in January, slower than the 0.9% growth in the previous month. Economists expected an increase of 1%.
On a monthly basis, the CPI decreased 0.6% in January, after rising 0.2% in December. Economists were looking for a decline of 0.3%.
The annual inflation rate for CPIF and CPIX were 2.6% each in January and the CPIF and CPIX decreased by 0.2% and 0.3% respectively, compared to the preceding month.
Meanwhile, the harmonized index of consumer prices or HICP rose 2.7% year-on-year in January, slower than the 2.8% growth in December. The HICP was down 0.2% compared to the previous month.
