Spain Home Sales Fall In December

Home sales in Spain dropped 0.3% year-on-year to 32,148 in December, the National Statistics Institute said on Wednesday. On a monthly basis, home sales decreased 7.7%.

The total number of property transfers decreased 8.2% from the previous year to 137,604. It represents a monthly decline of 10.3%.

The total number of property transfers per 100,000 inhabitants was the highest in La Rioja and Castilla y Leon, the statistical office said.

In full year 2009, 1.85 million properties were transferred, indicating a 16.9% decrease as compared with 2008.
